Henry returns to Kiwis’ ODI side
WELLINGTON, New Zealand:
Fast bowler Matt Henry has returned to New Zealand's ODI squad to face the West Indies after recovering from injury, but a groin injury has ruled Kane Williamson out of the three-match series.
Following the completion of their ongoing T20 International series, the Black Caps will play the Windies in three ODIs between November 15 and 25.
Henry will return to action after missing the final two ODIs against England last month due to a calf strain. He has been undergoing a "planned conditioning and rehabilitation block" to prepare for the ODI series, as well as the subsequent three-Test series in December.
Meanwhile, Williamson, who recently announced his retirement from T20s, was not considered for the ODI series and will focus on preparing for the Test series, which begins on December 2.
New Zealand will once again be missing several key players to injuries, including Mohammad Abbas (ribs), Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O'Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Ben Sears (hamstring).
Blair Tickner, who was an injury replacement for Kyle Jamieson for the England series, has also retained his spot despite Jamieson's return to action, with the other fast bowlers being Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes and Nathan Smith.
Captain Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Rachin Ravindra will handle spin duties.
