‘It’s right to step away for my personal, professional growth’ Duckie steps down as head coach of Chapelton Maroons with immediate effect
Donovan Duckie has resigned his post as head coach of Jamaica Premier League outfit Phoenix Chapleton Maroons with immediate effect.
Duckie, who has been head coach of the Clarendon-based team since the start of the season, handed his resignation letter to club president Kaycia Butler yesterday.
"Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation as head coach of the Chapelton Maroons effective immediately, June 11, 2026,” Duckie’s letter stated.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve the club. It has been an honour to work with the players, staff and management during my time as the head coach.
“I appreciate the experiences, challenges, and memories shared during my tenure,” Duckie noted.
He added that the decision was not easy.
“The decision was not an easy one but, after careful consideration, I believe it is right to step away for my personal and professional growth. I remain thankful for the support and trust placed in me during the time with the organisation.”
When contacted about the situation, technical director of Chapelton Maroons, Craig Butler, said he had no comment.
Chapelton Maroons finished eighth in this season's Jamaica Premier League football competition with 49 points.
